The Russian government has increased customs duties on malt beer and cider imports from unfriendly countries. The relevant resolution was published on the official Internet portal of legal information on September 13.

According to the document, the duty on beer increases from €1 to €1.5 per liter, and on cider — from 22.5% to 30%.

It is specified that the new rates will take effect on September 19 and will be valid until December 31, 2025.

On September 5, Roman Chekushov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, said that Russia had managed to develop its own beer production, and the authorities' support for this industry deserved attention. He clarified that currently most beer producers in the Russian Federation are controlled by Russian enterprises or managed by Russian teams, which once again proves the development of this industry.
