Rosgvardiya servicemen discovered a helmet of a Red Army soldier and other artifacts from the Great Patriotic War during engineering work in one of the districts of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was announced on September 8 by the press service of the department.

The commander of the unit that discovered the find said that his great-grandfather 82 years ago took part in the liberation of Donbass from the Nazi invaders. Junior Sergeant Nikolai Obukhov fought near Donetsk in 1943 and met Victory in 1945 in Berlin.

"For me, this find is important as the heir of the victor who liberated this land. Now, decades later, we continue his work, ensuring security in the DPR," said the officer with the call sign Karat.

It is noted that the found objects will be transferred to the museum.

Earlier this day, the DPR celebrated the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of Donbass from the Nazi invaders. The celebrations took place on the Saur-Grave mound, which is one of the highest points in the region.
