- Rutte announced NATO's plans to confront Russia after the end of the crisis in Ukraine
The North Atlantic Alliance will continue to confront Russia even after the end of the conflict in Ukraine. This was stated on September 4 by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at a defense forum in the Czech Republic.
"The Russian threat will not disappear with the end of the conflict in Ukraine. NATO must and will continue to prepare to counter it," Rutte said, quoted by the YouTube channel NATO News.
He also called on the European Union (EU) countries to increase military production and increase funding for the militarization of Europe. The NATO Secretary General noted that the alliance will prepare for threats from China, which, according to him, "produces more warships than the United States."
Earlier, on September 2, Rutte said that NATO countries had purchased $2 billion worth of lethal and defensive weapons from the United States for Ukraine. He added that the alliance's military support for Kiev "is only getting stronger."
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that NATO and the European Union (EU) continue to escalate hysteria. According to him, any sane person is aware that the Russian Federation has no desire to ever attack anyone.
In addition, the Russian leader clarified that the conflict in Ukraine is connected with the fact that Western countries contributed to the coup d'etat in the country. Among other things, he pointed to an attempt to absorb the entire post-Soviet space with the help of NATO.
