- The eruption of the Kilauea volcano with lava fountains up to 150 m high occurred in Hawaii
The Kilauea volcano in the US state of Hawaii has become active again, with a powerful eruption. This was announced on September 3 by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) on its website.
"The thirty—second episode of the ongoing eruption of Halemaumau crater ended <...> after 13.4 hours of incessant gushing," the USGS said.
The height of the lava fountains reached 150 meters. According to The Guardian newspaper, Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. It is located about 320 km south of Honolulu, the largest city in the state, located on the island of Oahu.
Earlier, on August 28, on the southwestern Japanese island of Kyushu in the Kirishima mountain range, the Shinmoe volcano spewed ash to a height of 5.5 km. It was clarified that the third level of danger was declared in the region. Residents were advised to be extremely careful and not approach the crater at a distance of about 3 km. This was associated with the risk of large volcanic rocks falling.
