- The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to create shelves with Russian non-food products
The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed to introduce mandatory placement of shelves with Russian non-food products in sales halls from March 1, 2026. The relevant document has been published on the federal portal of regulatory legal acts.
According to the bill, stores will have to place on the shelves "a minimum proportion of non-food products of domestic production," which will be determined depending on the length of "facades of goods of the corresponding group on the shelf equipment facing the buyer."
The height of the placement of domestic goods on the shelf space should be from 80 to 160 cm from the floor surface. The Government has the right to establish special placement requirements for certain types of non-food products.
"This federal law comes into force on March 1, 2026," the document says.
On June 17, it was reported that the inscription "National goods" may appear on price tags and store shelves. The author of the bill on the so-called Russian regiment was Tatyana Butskaya, a United Russia deputy. It is assumed that the project will affect only non—food products - food products will not fall under these requirements. The new label is planned to be placed on products manufactured in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union.
