Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced the possibility of working with the United States in the field of liquefied natural gas. He announced this on August 22, 2025 at a meeting with nuclear industry workers and scientists.
"By the way, we are also discussing with our American partners the possibility of working together in this area. And not only in our Arctic zone, but also in Alaska," Putin said.
Putin stressed that the Russian company Novatek is actively working in the field of natural gas liquefaction and cooperates with both European and Asian partners. He added that Russia's technologies in this area are unique, and they are of interest to foreign partners, including the United States.

Earlier, on June 22, Putin, in his congratulations on the 80th anniversary of the nuclear industry in the Russian Federation, stressed that the nuclear industry has become the epitome of Russia's technological might. In addition, the Russian leader noted the introduction of breakthrough technologies into the industry, the implementation of infrastructure projects and the modernization of the nuclear icebreaking fleet.
