12 people were killed in an accident involving a tractor and a ferry in Afghanistan.
An accident has occurred in the southern Helmand province of Afghanistan: a tractor trailer with people fell into a river, killing 12 people, including women and children. This was reported on August 22 by the Ariana News information portal with reference to local authorities.
Hafiz Abdul Bari Rashid Helmandi, director of the Helmand Province Department of the Ministry of Information and Culture, said that the victims were traveling in a tractor trailer on their way from Garmsir County to Nava County.
"While crossing the river on a ferry, a tractor trailer fell into the water, killing nine children and three women," the official said.
He added that four more children were injured, and security forces who arrived on time managed to rescue 14 people from the water.
Earlier, on August 20, a major accident occurred in Afghanistan. It was clarified that the bus model 580 was traveling from Islam Qala to Kabul and collided with a motorcycle and a truck on the ring road. After that, the passenger bus caught fire. Among the dead are elderly people, women, children, a bus driver, a motorcyclist and a truck driver. In total, at least 79 people were killed in road accidents.
