Cinema attendance over the weekend barely exceeded 0.7 million, and it fell below this threshold only in 2022. The Russian box office was headed by the cartoon "Fluffy Fast and Furious: Grand Prix". Racing mice went toe to toe with a retired educator. 226 thousand rubles are divided between the box office of the leader and the comedy "To the village grandfather." The film with Yuri Stoyanov, released back in June, was the leader at first, but eventually took second place and earned 20.2 million rubles at the box office over the past weekend. Mice collected 20.4 million and topped the top. In the third position, the horror film "One Whole" with 15.6 million, Izvestia estimated the preliminary results of the national box office over the weekend.

Laugh at old age

The comedy with Yuri Stoyanov "To the village of Grandpa" has been attracting the interest of viewers for ten weeks now. Despite this, the film directed by debutant Vlad Bogush is unlikely to collect a billion. Currently, the total cash register is 757.3 million rubles. But despite the seasonal decline in cinema attendance, the film can be called the undisputed leader of the Russian summer rental. According to the EAIS (Unified Federal Automatic Information System for information about movie Screenings in cinemas), the tape collected 20.2 million rubles over the last weekend. At the same time, it has been in the box office since June 12.

The film tells the story of ten-year-old Vladik (Yaroslav Golovnev), who is sent to the countryside for the summer. The boy survives all the nannies his mother finds for him (Ingrid Olerinskaya). While she is on a business trip, the grandfather (Yuri Stoyanov) will have to deal with the upbringing of the teenager. He agrees to look after his grandson. Vladik decides to bring his grandfather to expel him to the city. But grandfather can bring anyone himself.

— The family film with Yuri Stoyanov is playing on a beautiful sundress, it's a light summer movie about nostalgia and a carefree childhood in the countryside, — says Olga Zinyakova, president of the KARO cinema chain. — In fact, we can talk about almost identical results of two projects — the comedy "To Grandpa's Village" and the animation "Fluffy Fast and Furious: Grand Prix". The new cartoon performed well against the background of the lack of competition in the animation segment.

The mice are driving

At the head of the box office this weekend, however, was the cartoon from Timeless Films and Mack Magic "Fluffy Fast and Furious: Grand Prix". The film distribution company Volga, which released the film, called it an animated blockbuster. The fees for the first weekend amounted to 20.4 million rubles, which is not exactly a blockbuster result, strictly speaking, but the first place is the first place.

In the story, a mouse named Edda has dreamed of roaring engines and breakneck speeds since childhood. The European Grand Prix becomes a chance not only to become famous, but also to save the family from ruin. On the track, the mouse will meet his idol, the cold—blooded champion Ed. For him, victory is above all else. But suddenly Ed drops out of the race. Now Edda has to take his place. Hiding under the helmet of her idol, she rushes into battle against the fastest racers on the planet to defend the title of legend.

— Only one new rental was able to break into the top 5 this weekend - "Fluffy Fast and Furious: Grand Prix," Olga Zinyakova shared with Izvestia. — This German-British animation about racing successfully appeared at the box office in the wake of the global success of F1 with Brad Pitt. The rest of this weekend's releases couldn't compete with the holdovers with their great sundress.

The third place of the box office was taken by the horror film "One Whole". The body horror starring Dave Franco and Alison Brie grossed 15.6 million in its third week. Anti-physiological posters with eyes whose eyelashes stick together, or with the main characters, like Siamese twins with fused lips, did not arouse the interest of most of the public this time. But Michael Shanks' painting is still in the top.

The film tells the story of a couple going through a relationship crisis. After moving to a secluded country house, Tim and Millie encounter an inexplicable phenomenon: their bodies begin to pull towards each other with frightening force. To escape, the couple will have to uncover the mystery of this place before they merge into one.

The family comedy "My Dad the Bear" has also been at the top for the third week. The story about a father who is trying to establish a relationship with his 11-year-old daughter, but magic interferes with his plans, earned 14.8 million. The success of the film lies in the star cast. Starring: Eva Smirnova, Roman Kurtsyn, Boris Dergachev, Alexander Golovin.

No chance

Completing the top five is the film "Athel-Matel" by Igor Bagaturia, a comedy that can also be called a family one because several relatives are listed in the credits. Starring Jan Tsapnik and his daughter Elizabeth, singer Stas Kostiushkin and his wife Julia.

The story is about an unlucky businessman who was cashing out and owed money to an authority named the Beekeeper. They have to hide in Dagestan. But even here, the commercial vein does not allow you to live in peace. A businessman passes off a dilapidated barn in a mountain village as a fashionable eco-hotel. Popularity with customers gives away the location of the fugitive.

Despite the light summer repertoire, cinema attendance over the past weekend barely exceeded 0.7 million. It was lower only in the fall of 2022. According to the head of the KARO cinema chain, the decline in audience interest is natural.

— The end of July and August is the lowest period in terms of attendance, it's the height of the holidays, the audience spends the least time in cinemas, — says Olga Zinyakova. — There were very few new products that could compete for the audience's interest this weekend. Horror films, several re—releases, a crime thriller, comedy and drama - none of them were marked by a bright marketing campaign and remained almost unnoticed by the viewer.

Next weekend, Stas Ivanov's crime comedy "Gelya" is being released, which can attract a wide audience. Starring Ilya Malakov, Anton Vasiliev and Viktor Dobronravov. The Turkish thriller "Astral. The Curse of the Dead", the Korean animation "Exorcism: Chronicles", the Chinese cartoon "The Little Mermaid and the Sea Monster", the comedy with Dmitry Nagiyev "Spy Kids" and the melodrama with Scarlett Johansson "She said Yes!".
