- Boldly into action: the secret of eternal youth is revealed in the cycle "The body as a gadget"

On March 12, the online premiere of the popular science series of documentaries "The Body as a Gadget" produced by NMG DOC will take place at the Wink online cinema. Four episodes will tell you about the hidden functions of the human body and how to improve them. The series will allow viewers to see the world of the future through the eyes of modern bioengineers and demonstrate current scientific achievements and discoveries of leading scientists of the country and the world. Izvestia evaluated the promising project and talked with the creators.
How to improve your eyesight
The Body as a Gadget project consists of four films with a new look at skin, vision, mind and blood. Leading Russian experts, researchers and doctors of sciences talk about the almost limitless reserves of the human body. How to see with your eyes closed, change the composition of blood, influence your own consciousness and change the life around you with the power of thought.
There are hidden functions in the human body that we know about, but still don't use. How do you get the body to activate these abilities? The cycle "The body as a gadget" is dedicated to this.
Comparison with technology, according to the creators, is quite acceptable here. In the gadget, you can upgrade the components — the motherboard, processor, graphics functionality. Similarly, the human body can be improved. There would be a wish.
— When we were writing interviews with scientists, with the characters of the film, I realized that the body can be accelerated quite easily, but it needs to be done comprehensively, — says the director of the cycle Vladimir Khramovitsky. — I even started to apply this new knowledge to myself and noticed progress. We had heard about many methods somewhere, but we did not take them seriously, we thought that this was all the level of grandmother's advice and tabloid press. But when scientists confirm them, you can't help but think. Yes, such simple things that many people know about, but few people do regularly, really work.
Such actions include vision training. For example, in a dark room, put a piece of white paper on a dark surface and look at it after relaxing. Each time, the outline of the sheet will become clearer, and over time, perhaps, you will read the text on this sheet. This technique is used in the training of special forces in different armies of the world.
Can a person change from nearsightedness to farsightedness or get rid of glasses with the power of thought? Why are only men colorblind? Why are women's eyes able to distinguish more shades than men's? Why are male drivers more likely than women to get into side accidents? You can learn about all this in the popular science documentary "Vision" from the series "The body as a gadget".
How to slow down aging
The study of slowing down the aging process and improving the quality of life is called biohacking. Biohackers consider their body as a system that can be hacked, to eliminate the errors that have arisen in it: diseases, age-related changes. Anyone can become a biohacker at any age, they say.
One of those who radically began to improve his body was Michael Jackson. The methods he used are described in the "Skin" series. Jackson was born black, but at the zenith of his career he became paler than his fair-skinned colleagues. There were rumors that the artist was resorting to expensive manipulations. And he said that he had a skin disease in which pigmentation is disrupted.
"We met in the USA with Michael Jackson's biographer Pearl Junior, who revealed the secret of the true reason for the artist's skin color change," the director said. But you can find out what really happened from the movie.
The skin is our personal spacesuit and protective shell. What else is known about her? Where do the goosebumps on the body and the feeling that the hair stands on end come from? What can happen to a person's psyche if you deprive them of hugs? What is harmful and useful about tactile hunger? Is it possible to stop the aging process without surgery and injections? What happens to the skin when we sleep? What is the difference between men's and women's skin? The project experts answer all these questions and give a lot of useful advice.
"We set ourselves the task of being as useful to the viewer as possible and offering practical, understandable techniques and life hacks on how to make the most of this unique gift called the human body," says Yulia Shamal, the film's producer.
All four films of the NMG DOC series "Body as a gadget" — "Vision", "Skin", "Mind" and "Blood" — will be available to watch starting March 12 on the Wink platform.
