March will bring a gift to the fair sex, becoming the month of strong and successful women — at least in the TV program. We are waiting on the screens for "On Ice" about an outstanding figure skater, "Scarpetta" about a famous medical examiner and "Vladimir" about a professor of philology. The young Sherlock Holmes from the TV series of the same name, directed by Guy Ritchie, who joined them, certainly will not spoil the picture, and even vice versa. Izvestia tells about the most interesting TV premieres in March.

"Go ahead!"

2nd of March
TNT

Timofey Nazarov, the head of a penal colony somewhere in the taiga, cherishes two innermost desires - to get out of his bear corner to Moscow and devote his life to cinema. But so far, the first dream is in no hurry to turn into reality, so Nazarov is giving his all to the second. Moreover, the famous metropolitan director Matvey Selizhitsky, who was immediately given the nickname Motor by his fellow prisoners, was just taken to the colony to serve his sentence. This is how a film raid begins on the territory under Nazarov's jurisdiction — with the help of prisoners and staff, the head of the colony will take over filming iconic Hollywood action films in a prison-like manner...

"Wind Up!" is the sequel to the 2024 TV series "Camera Motor", the hilarious brainchild of Sergei Zhukov and his company "Hands Up Production". For all the unpretentiousness of the plot and humor, the series predictably gained popularity: the audience does not expect complex psychological delights from the sitcom and does not place special demands on the acting of someone who amusingly falls to the floor after slipping on a banana peel (or, given the plot location, on a pine cone). So "Wind up!" is definitely waiting for an equally happy fate: Batman, who is being waved at by a burly criminal with a cardboard box so that his cloak flutters prettily, tall teenage mutant ninja turtles smeared in green gouache to the ears, and Jim Carrey's character from "The Mask" with bulging plastic eyes will provide a grateful audience with a portion of sincere evening laughter.

Korean pop culture is based on ruthless adherence to the canons of beauty accepted by the public: it's not for nothing that girls of two hemispheres moan over portraits of K-pop soloists. In this sense, "The Kiss of the Siren" has been worked out one hundred percent: everything — from the appearance and costumes of the characters, the smooth lines of hairstyles and perfectly calibrated movements to the indoor environment, the backgrounds against which key scenes unfold, and the urban landscapes outside the window — looks absolutely flawless. At the same time, "Kiss of the Siren" is a creative reworking of the Japanese TV show "Ice World". The Japanese, however, preferred to rely on psychology, while the Koreans preferred aesthetics. However, they did it well enough that the possible plot flaws were not too obvious.

"Young Sherlock"

March 4

The 2009 film "Sherlock" became Guy Ritchie's first PG-13 film and his most commercially successful project at that time. The 2011 sequel, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, was also extremely well received by the public and critics. Immediately after its release, Richie himself and the main actors — Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law – started talking about shooting a third picture, but year after year the estimated filming dates were postponed under the pretext of finalizing the script. It looks like it was finally refined to the scale of the series — and now it's in front of us. Alas, Downey Jr. outgrew the role of 19-year-old Holmes a long time ago, so Hiro Fiennes Tiffin ("Ministry of Non-Gentleman Affairs") took his place. The young man's appearance is quite attractive: let's see if he can reach his predecessor with his game.

"Vladimir"

5th of March
Netflix

Julia, a 50-year-old university literature teacher, is attracted to her mysterious and charismatic colleague, the writer Vladimir Vladinsky. However, she already has a lot of troubles: her marriage is bursting at the seams, her husband is in danger of being fired, and the scandal affects her own career. But soon the past troubles seem like small things to her: her infatuation with Vladimir gradually turns into an obsession, Julia is no longer able to distinguish her vicious fantasies from reality, and soon the life of Julia and her loved ones will finally go downhill ...

The name of the lover of the 50-year—old philologist seems very revealing: where Russians are, there are feelings and sufferings, and it is also strange that the hero's last name is not Vronsky. First impressions don't lie: in Julia May Jonas's novel, which formed the basis of the script, critics saw clear references to Nabokov. But don't get so serious: "Vladimir" is a beautiful erotic story about female sexual and creative energy. Starring is Oscar and Golden Globe winner Rachel Weisz— who is the same age as the heroine, but looks barely 40, so we have an aesthetic spectacle.

"On ice"

March, 6
Okko

Ten years ago, Ksenia (Angelina Pakhomova — "Gold Mine", "Cynics") and her partner Alexey were world-class figure skaters basking in glory. But after Alexey's mysterious death, Ksenia's life went downhill. She wants to find out what happened to her partner, but the truth about the tragedy is known only by the domineering and tough Alevtina (Victoria Tolstoganova — "Moscow Saga", "Icy"), the director of the sports school that once led Ksenia into big—time sports. To solve the mystery, Ksenia returns to her hometown and gets a job as a coach at her former school. She sees that nothing has changed: coaches are scheming against each other, breaking children with exorbitant loads, parents are putting pressure on their children, satisfying their own ambitions... The world of sports is still cruel, and Ksenia is gradually realizing that the tragedy that happened to Alexei was by no means the last...

Sports drama is traditionally an emotional genre, especially where drama prevails over sports. So the artists play to the limit of their senses, surprising them with unexpected freshness. The extreme rigidity of big-time sports and the price you have to pay to get to the top have already been discussed, both in the cinema and in the media. Especially strange is the amazement of Ksenia, who has traveled this path herself, so she doesn't seem to be surprised by its sharp and dangerous pitfalls. Well, let's hope that the detective component of the plot will be worthy of such a powerful emotional storm.

"Scarpetta"

March 11th
Prime

The famous medical examiner Kay Scarpetta, having built an enviable professional career, returns to his hometown in Virginia after many years of absence to take the chair of the head of the local bureau of investigation. She teaches her subordinates not to lose sight of any of the smallest details, introduces new technologies into her work in order to give justice to the guilty and restore justice to the victims. But in her private life, it's not much easier for her: misunderstandings with new colleagues, the envy of those who failed to succeed themselves, and a difficult relationship with her sister force Kay to defend her own right to happiness..

The performer of the main role, Nicole Kidman, had to put in a lot of effort at the time, proving that she was not just a beauty from the screen, but also an actress from God. Jamie Lee Curtis, who played Scarpetta's sister, is endowed with no less acting talent, so their on-screen duet is undoubtedly worth a look. The showrunner of the project was Liz Sarnoff, who worked on "Stay Alive", which is the second guarantee that the show will be worthy.
