Alone from home: how Gosha Kutsenko's hero prepares for March 8th
Like the popular Christmas Tree franchise, the romantic comedy "Tulips" consists of several short stories, only about the preparation for March 8. Gosha Kutsenko will play the father of a large family in one of them called "Flowers for Loved Ones." His character plans to please his beloved girls on International Women's Day and arrange a holiday for everyone, but everything is not going according to plan. A picture with a floral name will be released on March 8, 2026. Izvestia visited the set and talked with the creators of the almanac and the artists.
Of course, Gosha
The comedy "Tulips" is about how men prepare for International Women's Day. In general, this is ridiculous. There will be five short stories set simultaneously in Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Novorossiysk, Yekaterinburg and Krasnoyarsk. The connecting element of all the fragments will be flower petals, the authors of the almanac say. The cast of the film is all superstars. Elena Yakovleva, Alexey Serebryakov, Nikolai Kolyada, singer SEVILLE, teen idols Yaroslav Mogilnikov and Alexandra Babaskina, Slava Kopeikin and Varvara Shcherbakova.
The director of the novel "Flowers for Loved Ones" Yuri Korobeynikov ("Christmas Trees 12", "Curious Varvara") made a bet on Gosha Kutsenko. The Honored Artist of Russia plays the head of a large family, Artyom. In the story, he lives in the "Babi kingdom". In one apartment there is a mother (Galina Stakhanova), mother—in-law (Natalia Grynshpun), sister (Maria Markova), wife (Irina Medvedeva) and three daughters (Polina Aynutdinova, Ekaterina Temnova, Varvara Kuprina). "Girls" from 7 to 77.
Every March 8th is like a quest for Artyom. We need to give flowers to everyone, not offend anyone, and keep within a modest budget. Every year, on this day, there is a global collapse in which everything is dedicated to women. Artyom will bypass the local flower shops, make his way to a closed flower base, encounter a fraudster and make sure that the world is not without kind people.
The filming of "Flowers for Loved Ones" took place in the Stalin house next to the Belorussky railway Station. There were grimwagens in the courtyard, a crane was lifting a huge light fixture to the fourth-floor level, and work was already underway there. The film crew was preparing for the arrival of the stars. As the director of the film, Yuri Korobeynikov, admitted to Izvestia, he immediately saw only Gosha Kutsenko in the main role of his novel. Naturally, he approved the artist without trial.
"We're shooting a novel about an adult man's love for his family and what he's willing to do for his loved ones," says the director. — It seems to me that Gosha Kutsenko embodies the image of such a loving, delicate, vulnerable man. I don't even know who could be better suited for this role.
While the director was preparing for the start of filming, Gosha Kutsenko repeated the text in the makeup. He's wearing a flowered apron over his T-shirt. A family breakfast shooting scene is being prepared. Unlike his hero in life, Kutsenko prepares surprises for his loved ones in advance.
— My family consists of three daughters and a spouse, and on March 8, I usually come for flowers the night before to congratulate everyone in the morning, — Gosha Kutsenko shared. — And in "Tulips" my story is about roses. My character is a good family man. This image was developed by Bazelevs during the filming of "Christmas Trees", where we played together with Masha Shukshina and Sasha Robak. This time, my hero has entered the Indian kingdom and is now taxiing as best he can. I feel so sorry for him, poor man. I'm going to the serpentarium now. (He smiles.)
They have been removed since the age of two
Meanwhile, Daddy's daughters were called to the playground. In pink pajamas with ears, they are ready to enter the frame. Young star Polina Aynutdinova has already appeared in four dozen films in her 12 years. And Yuri Korobeynikov cast an actress in the title role in Curious Varvara, and the series later became a family hit. On the set, the director addresses her by her middle name, Polina Pavlovna. In the novel "Flowers for Loved Ones", Aynutdinova's heroine Galya is the middle daughter in Artyom's large family.
"I love it when my fans give me flowers,— Polina said before filming began. — I like roses, tulips and daisies. There was a movie premiere recently, so I had bouquets all over my kitchen.
"I like chrysanthemums," said seven—year-old Varvara Kuprina.
The actress plays the youngest in Gosha Kutsenko's family, Rita. Varvara got into the novel for her previous achievements — Yuri Korobeynikov had already shot her before in his movie.
Kuprina worked on the project "The Word of a kid. Blood on the asphalt", where she played the younger sister of the Coat, Julia, popularly known as "15 kopecks". It seems that a well-coordinated team has gathered. And Varvara and Polina, despite their young age, already have several joint projects. For example, they starred together in the TV series "Medium".
— And in the movie "The Heirs. The Gift of Blood" Varya played me as a child," adds Polina Aynutdinova. — I was 9 years old then, and she was 4.
— And this is not the first film, I've been shooting since I was two years old, — says Varvara Kuprina seriously. — I want to remain an actress for the rest of my life.
The eldest daughter in Gosha Kutsenko's family is played by Ekaterina Temnova, the country's main playwright. You wouldn't even recognize her without her red curls.
"I've already won back Manyunya, that's it, it's time to move on," Ekaterina smiles. — I am sure that "Tulips" will be an interesting family comedy. My character Masha is a cheeky girl. She has a peculiar style of dress, she wears all black. Well, at 15-16, all teenagers are cocky. Masha also plays the drums.
Since filming has just begun, Temnova does not yet know what kind of extreme she will face. But, as the actress admits, she is ready to do anything for the role. For example, while starring in "Manyuna," Katya even agreed to shave her head.
Divorce and burnt cheesecakes
Russian grandmother Galina Stakhanova also starred in "Christmas Trees." In the spring comedy, she plays Gosha Kutsenko's mother. She worries about her son, that he works a lot. And there's a holiday coming up.
"He ordered bouquets, but something went wrong, they brought roses instead of tulips," the actress shares. — Everyone is upset, especially the mother-in-law. He says that his son-in-law couldn't properly congratulate him. Mom stands up for her son. Her son is golden: So on March 8, he got up early to cook a festive breakfast.
In an attempt to buy his favorite tulips, Artyom went around the shops and reached the warehouse, but in vain. Everything was sold out. And then…
"My son collects the petals and goes to the roof with them," says Galina Stakhanova. — I don't want to reveal all the surprises, but it will be very beautiful in the finale. I recently had an anniversary, I was given only roses. I don't like them—they're prickly and wither quickly. And tulips stand for a long time. But most of all, I love gladioli, although lately these flowers have become somewhat unpopular. And they are so beautiful! Well, I love wildflowers even more — daisies, cornflowers and lilies of the valley.
Artyom's relationship with his mother-in-law is not easy. The woman makes claims to her son-in-law all the time. And he's delicately trying to justify himself. Even in the morning in the kitchen, after cooking breakfast, instead of gratitude, he hears only reproaches for burnt cheesecakes. Apparently, Artyom's family is not only having trouble with his mother-in-law. Everyone is talking about a possible divorce. But the breadwinner drives this thought away from himself and, as best he can, pleases everyone.
There's nowhere to fall in a small apartment on the fourth floor. It's hot from the spotlight. It's good that Gosha Kutsenko's character has to ventilate the room from the smell of burnt breakfast. Judging by the way the actor handles kitchen utensils, he knows how to cook.
So far, none of the creative team of the film "Tulips" undertakes to predict whether the almanac will be as successful as "Christmas Trees". But the spring title and the format of the novels are a good marketing ploy. After all, who said that stories about small miracles should only be in winter?
