The best domestic novelty is the comedy "Run" starring Mikhail Porechenkov and Nikita Kologrivy. The cartoon "Zveropoezd" showed the highest attendance among new releases. Izvestia — on the results of the weekend's film distribution.

"Dracula" and "Run" became rental leaders

Cinema attendance began to grow gradually after the traditional summer recession. From 700,000 people over the weekend a week earlier, it increased to almost 950,000 over the past weekend, according to the EAIS.

— Moviegoers are gradually getting into the autumn rhythm of life — they return to cinemas for leisure on weekends after summer vacations and outdoor walks. Plus, loud and interesting novelties appeared at the box office — Besson's Dracula definitely rocked the rental," Olga Zinyakova, president of the KARO cinema chain, explained to Izvestia.

The new film adaptation of the novel by the Irish writer Bram Stoker "Dracula" has become the leader of the domestic distribution. Directed by Luc Besson, the director of the cult films "Leon", "The Fifth Element" and "Taxi", the gloomy hero Count Dracula becomes a grief—stricken prince after the death of his wife. He condemns himself to immortality in order to reunite with his beloved at all costs. After hundreds of years of torment, he finds the one he was looking for.

The film earned 102 million rubles in its first weekend at the box office, which secured it the first place in the national box office.

— Vampire movies are especially popular in the fall. Luc Besson's new "Dracula" is an anticipated event in the world of cinema. A large costumed project about eternal love stands out favorably compared to other rental releases. Here we can recall last year's success of The Count of Monte Cristo, which was released around the same time. The film attracted the attention of fans of the Gothic novel "Dracula" by Bram Stoker, and fans of the adaptation by Francis Ford Coppola, — said Olga Zinyakova.

The best domestic novelty of the weekend was the crime comedy "Run" starring Mikhail Porechenkov and Nikita Kologrivy. In the story, Sasha, a young bear thief, goes on another case, but everything gets out of control and turns out for him in the most unpredictable way. In the house of his new victim, he witnesses a murder crime. Now Sasha himself is the target for which the hunt begins. Complicating the situation is that in the morning, the guy who is now on the run needs to get to the matinee with the child, otherwise he risks losing the most precious thing.

The novelty took the sixth place in the box office, earning about 17 million rubles over the weekend. The audience praises the film for its intense and dynamic plot, unexpected twists, witty dialogues and humor, as well as the acting tandem and the game.

Kologrivy is back in the top

The second line of the chart was taken by the family release cartoon "Zveropoezd". He brought almost 45 million rubles to the box office and showed the highest attendance among debutants — an average of 14 people per session.

Although the oldies of the box office can boast of such figures. Among them is the film "To Grandpa's Village" with Yuri Stoyanov, which has been at the box office for three months and closes the top 10 with 7 million at the end of the weekend (total fees are more than 800 million rubles). And also "Family Ghost" is another Russian painting with Kologrivy, but now in the form of a ghost. It was released at the end of August. Last weekend, the comedy credited 14 million rubles to its account, taking seventh place in the rating.1

The fees of the Down project with Egor Creed, whose hero is locked in an elevator with his fiancee and a psychopath, have almost doubled. A week earlier, the picture was at the top of the chart with 44 million, now it is in third place with 26 million. The Japanese thriller Exit 8, based on the video game, also lost ground. His main character is also trapped in the intricate labyrinths of the subway, from where he is trying to find a way out. The film moved from third to fourth place, adding another 19 million rubles (10 million less than last week).

Other weekend leaders include "Dinosaur Doctor" (18 million), "The Omniscient Reader" (10 million), and "Sausage" (7 million).
