They gave us a ride: the crime comedy "Gel" was shown in Moscow

On the eve of its wide release, a special screening of the film "Gel", the winner of the Window to Europe Film Festival and a potential audience hit, took place in Moscow on August 19. The adventurous comedy about the hijacking of the pink "helik" was presented by the main actors Daria Melnikova, Anna Arefyeva and Ilya Malakov. The first viewers got acquainted with "Gels" back in early August — the painting opened one of the oldest and most prestigious festivals in the country, "Window to Europe". In the same place, the comedy won the prize "For energy on the screen." You can read the film review here.

Stas Ivanov's previous film "One Day" received high marks from film critics two years ago. The new story about the stolen pearl-colored Hyundai is more spectator-like, funny, and hooligan.

In the center of the plot is a goofy trucker Sanya (Ilya Malakov). He embarks on an adventure with the hijacking of an unusual car, unaware that a simple task for the sake of easy earnings will turn his life around. At the same time, a very serious event is about to happen in his life: Sanya will become a father any day now, and not for the first time. Money is really needed, and even the mother-in-law will then stop nagging the wayward son-in-law. The guy has to steal a Gelik from the parking lot and deliver it to the customer in Vyborg. But the car has been under surveillance for a long time. The reason for this is hidden drugs, which, of course, sucker San does not know anything about. Torn between the showdown of authorities and the desire to take his wife out of the hospital, Sanya famously drives a "gelika", riding from one trouble to another.

The main actor Ilya Malakov came to the special show with his "Gel". It would be more correct to say with his wife, Angelina Strechina, whom he also affectionately calls Geley.

— When a project is named after your wife, who will refuse? But these are all symbolic jokes. In fact, "Gelya" is a very cool comedy from beginning to end," Ilya confessed to Izvestia.

The young man decided to match the image of his character Sledge and appeared in front of reporters in a brown tracksuit. But his wife played the reference to the painting differently. Angelina chose a long pearl-colored cape, shaped like fish scales, for the show.

"I came dressed as a minnow scale." And what it is and why it is connected with the film, you will understand after leaving the hall," Angelina intrigued the audience.

But most of all, the audience wanted to know where Ilya learned to drive so professionally. The answer surprised everyone: Malakov had only driven a few times before the Geli.

"I had my rights. But I very rarely went. And then our director Stas Ivanov said that it wasn't enough. You have to drive like a trucker. Otherwise, no one will believe it. I had to hire an instructor. I had a wonderful Soviet-trained uncle. He explained everything perfectly and traveled with me for many hours. He even stroked my hands when I was particularly nervous about grabbing the steering wheel. How can you not be nervous? It's a terribly expensive car! I actually only started driving normally after the project. First on carsharing, and then on his own car," the actor told Izvestia.

His on-screen wife Daria Melnikova also came to support her colleague on the set. The girl chose vertical striped suit trousers and a loose blue men's shirt for the special order. According to the actress, first of all, "Gel" is a film about love, and criminal episodes are already details.

— In any comedy, everything is prosaic. For me personally, this is a movie about love. Sanya does all this for the sake of his family, wife and children. By the way, the Helik was my dream car for a long time, but now I have a big family (Daria has three children. — Ed.), that's why I need a bus. In general, you can do many things for a woman. But at the same time, everyone has their own limits," the actress shared with Izvestia.

Melnikova recalled that she herself loved adventures and adventures in her youth. For example, when I was a student, I could take a train with friends to watch an evening performance at the St. Petersburg Theater, and after that, catch the night train to Moscow.

Anton Vasiliev plays a caricaturally good cop in "Gel", turning the images from "The Boy's Word" and "Nevsky" inside out. A pleasant surprise is the cameo of film critic and acting agent Dmitry Saveliev, who brilliantly plays himself behind bars. According to actress Anna Arefyeva, the audience will generally laugh a lot. Personally, she did just that.

— I watched "Gel" at the Vyborg festival and laughed incredibly. There's an age limit of 18+, but I'll definitely show it to my son. It's a kind and funny movie. I would also like to be like my heroine in life. She is a holistic, punchy and very strong girl. He can steer many people. "Gelya" is such a kid's film, but it's bright, sincere and with good humor," Anna told Izvestia.

It turns out that the audience has been waiting for similar Russian-made films for a long time.

— I adore Russia and Guy Ritchie's paintings. I think they have a lot in common. And then there are boys in sweatpants, and a helicopter, and cops, chases, humor, shootouts. It sounds like the best movie to watch with the boys in the evening," Anatoly, a spectator who came to the screening in a tracksuit, confessed to Izvestia.
