Directed by Edward Drake. Starring: Kevin James, Christina Ricci, Luis Guzman.

A comedy thriller about an energetic family man killer. In the story, Kevin James' character Ray decided to leave his criminal past for a family cafe with his wife (Christina Ricci). But mafia bosses are on the hunt for Ray. He is forced to take up arms again, but this time not for the sake of money.

The average rating of the film on aggregators barely exceeds 5 out of 10, but fans of light action films with ageless family values in the spirit of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and "True Lies" will appreciate Drake's new picture. Moreover, the forgotten star of the 1990s Christina Ricci will reappear on the screens, she is rarely seen, although not so long ago she appeared in the latest "Matrix" and, as a tribute, in the series "Wednesday".

Directors: Bjorn Franklin, Johnny Marquette. Starring: Shia LaBeouf, Toby Kebbell, James Cosmo.

Martial arts films are always especially loved by the audience. Now, along with the films "Never Give up", "Warrior" and "Fighter" stands "Without Rules" starring Shia LaBeouf. The actor has also noticeably lost ground in recent years, although just ten years ago he was considered almost the main actor in Hollywood.

Viewers will see the story of Sal, nicknamed Bull (Toby Kebbell), who, after a failed career as a promising boxer, is interrupted by odd jobs in a nursing home. At the age of 40, he returns to the ring in underground fights to regain his daughter's approval.

The film became the directorial debut for Bjorn Franklin and Johnny Marchett, who had previously been involved in music videos. Western critics note the gloomy atmosphere of the film and the excellent acting duo of Kebbell and LaBeouf. Fans of brutal dramas will appreciate the synthesis of the bloody atmosphere of underground fighting and fatherly love.

Directed by Eva Victor. Starring: Eva Victor, Naomi Aki, Luis Cancelmi.

The directorial and acting debut of screenwriter and comedian Eva Victor. The film managed to win the award for best screenplay at the Sundance Festival and the nomination for the Golden Camera at the Cannes Film Festival.

Eva not only shot the film according to her own script, but also played a major role in it. Namely, a literature professor at a college in New England who had been sexually assaulted by a teacher three years earlier.

Despite the subdued and melancholic atmosphere, Victor speaks about the topic with lively irony and delicacy. She does not turn the heroine into a victim, but on the contrary creates the image of a strong woman with a good sense of humor and critical thinking.

The audience gets a light and layered picture of trauma, healing, and the small joys that keep us afloat. The emotional balance between bitterness and humor makes the painting an ideal choice for an attentive and sensitive viewer.

"Lyosha from the Lavra. Burying the strange"

Director: Gemma Mnatsyan.

At the suggestion of Priest Pavel Ostrovsky, a team of young filmmakers shot a heartfelt documentary about the life of a young monk Alexy (Sergey Pisanyuk) from Trinity‑St. Sergius Lavra. In the 1990s, he independently buried homeless and lonely people, those who are called "strange" in the church. However, in 2002, Father Alexy, who was popularly nicknamed "Lyosha from the Lavra," tragically died at the age of 33.

Through eyewitness accounts and rare archival footage, the creators tell the true story of a young man who chose the path of service and virtue. Inevitably, the viewer wonders if one person can change the ingrained foundations of the ritual business and return the price of human life.

The picture is devoid of pretentious editing and far-fetched drama, and shots of silent monastery corridors and a fresh grave forest add philosophical and meditative charm to the film. "Lyosha from the Lavra" is a must-see for those who care about the eternal values and meaning of human presence in the world.

Directed by Andrey Nikiforov. Starring: Anton Bogdanov, Alexey Maklakov, Maria Gorban, Olga Tumaikina.

Once upon a time, jokes about Vovochka, Chapaev, Chukcha and the "new Russian" were told in the back of schools, but now the adventures of humorous folklore can be viewed on the big screen. Thanks to the fantasy of director Andrey Nikiforov and the efforts of the heroine Maria Gorban, the characters of the most popular genre will move to modern Moscow.

Vasily Ivanovich, the ironic mother-in-law, the naive Chukchi and the charismatic "new Russian" fall on the head of provincial Petya (Anton Bogdanov), who inadvertently releases them from the pages of a greasy collection of jokes. The characters will not only have to adapt to the realities of the gloomy inhabitants of the capital, but also return to their anecdotal world.

The authors promise an "explosion of nostalgia, humor and utter madness" to the music of Shaman and Natalia Kurtukova's absolute hit "Mother".
