- Lyubimova noted the role of joint projects in the field of cinema in bringing peoples closer together
Joint film projects and the establishment of the Eurasian Film Academy play a key role in bringing the peoples of Russia and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) closer together. This was announced on November 2 by the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova during a welcoming speech to the participants of the film forum within the framework of the Peoples of Russia and the CIS festival.
"An important step is the establishment of the Eurasian Film Academy and the holding of the first Eurasian Diamond Butterfly Film Award as part of its work. Such projects bring peoples closer together, open up new opportunities for dialogue and remind us of the importance of traditions," she stressed.
Alexey Fursin, Head of the Moscow Department of Culture, spoke in detail about the film industry support program, which is primarily aimed at infrastructure development.
"This is a large comprehensive program to support the domestic film industry <...>. It includes infrastructure development: These are the construction of the next stages of the Moskino film park, the development of the Moskino Film Factory innovation center and, of course, the reconstruction of the historical Gorky film studio," he said.
He also noted financial support measures, which include subsidies and grants for the development of joint projects between Russian and foreign film producers.
The festival program includes screenings of joint films, including the Russian-Uzbek film "The Sun Tastes Good" and the Russian-Tajik film "Path of Anger". In addition, there is an Ethnographic dictation at the event. For the first time in its history, the questions will be prepared by participants in a special military operation (SVO). The film forum will also include discussions on the role of cinema in shaping a common cultural space.
Special attention will be paid to the national symbols of Russia at the sessions "Balalaika: three strings of the Russian soul" and "The Bear is a force that is respected." The hallmark of the festival will be the "Modern Musical Map of Russia" campaign on National Unity Day featuring works representing each federal district.
On September 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Lyubimova. Then the head of the Ministry of Culture noted that the domestic film distribution is represented by films from friendly countries and those directors who want to "ride" in the Russian Federation. The Minister also stressed that the interest of the country's citizens in Russian cinema has increased since 2021.
On the same day, the Russian leader announced the attention of the Russian authorities to regional cultural centers, which promotes the development of talents in small towns of the state. According to Putin, new theaters and concert halls, cultural centers and galleries, centers of folk art, traditional crafts and crafts are opening in the regions.
