The soft texture and sweet taste of pumpkin are perfectly combined with cereals, creating dishes that both children and adults like. In addition to its taste qualities, it is rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber, which makes pumpkin not only tasty, but also healthy. Recipes for delicious autumn porridges are in the Izvestia article.

Why pumpkin is perfect for porridge with milk

Pumpkin is not only a bright autumn vegetable, but also a valuable ingredient for porridge. Its sweet taste and soft texture make it ideal for combining with milk and cereals. Rich in fiber, pumpkin helps normalize digestion and helps lower blood cholesterol levels.

In addition, it contains vitamins A, C, E and minerals such as potassium and magnesium, which support the health of the heart and blood vessels.

How to choose a pumpkin for porridge

When choosing a pumpkin for cooking porridge, you should pay attention to several factors. The fruit should be heavy for its size, with a firm and smooth skin without damage.

The color of the peel depends on the variety, but it should be rich and uniform. When tapping on the pumpkin, a dull sound should be heard, which indicates the maturity of the fruit. For porridge, it is better to choose varieties with bright orange flesh, such as "Giant", "Muscat" or "Hokkaido".

Recipe for millet porridge with pumpkin

To make millet porridge with pumpkin in milk, you will need 200 g of millet, 500 g of pumpkin, 600 ml of milk, 30 g of sugar, salt to taste and 50 g of butter. The pumpkin must be peeled and cut into small cubes. The millet is thoroughly washed under cold water until transparent.

In a saucepan, bring the milk to a boil, add the millet and cook over low heat until cooked, stirring occasionally so that the porridge does not burn.

In a separate pan, melt the butter, add the chopped pumpkin and simmer until soft. Then the finished millet is combined with stewed pumpkin, sugar and salt are added, mixed and heated over low heat for another 5-7 minutes. The finished porridge is served hot, if desired, you can put a piece of butter on top for flavor and extra tenderness.

Recipe for rice porridge with pumpkin

Rice porridge with pumpkin on milk will require 220 g of round-grain rice, 500 g of pumpkin, 700 ml of milk, 600 ml of water, 35-40 g of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar.

The pumpkin is peeled and cut into cubes. Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan, add the chopped pumpkin and cook until soft. The excess water is drained, and the pumpkin is softened into a puree.

In another saucepan, bring the milk to a boil, add rice, sugar, salt and vanilla sugar and cook over low heat until the rice is ready, stirring occasionally. Then combine the finished rice with pumpkin puree, stir and heat for another five minutes on low heat. It is served hot, if desired, adding a piece of butter, which gives the dish additional tenderness and flavor.

Beautiful serving of pumpkin porridge

You can use several techniques to beautifully serve pumpkin porridge. One option is a pumpkin pot, by cutting out the top of a small pumpkin, removing the seeds and pulp, leaving walls about 1 cm thick, and filling the resulting "pot" with ready—made porridge, which creates an autumnal mood and becomes an original decoration of the table.

A popular method of serving is serving in glass jars, where portions of porridge can be decorated with nuts, berries or honey on top, and covered with a lid. A beautifully served dish pleases the eye and makes eating more enjoyable, creating an atmosphere of coziness and home comfort.
