- The Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank have agreed to legalize cryptocurrencies in foreign trade
The Russian Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of the Russian Federation have agreed to legalize payments in cryptocurrency for foreign trade. This was announced on October 21 by Finance Minister Anton Siluanov.
"We believe that this area should be legalized, should receive legislative regulation of this area of activity. And thus, together with Rosfinmonitoring and the control services, we will be able to ensure and restore order in this sector," he said following the results of the strategic session "Improving economic efficiency and ensuring equal business conditions."
Siluanov stressed that the use of cryptocurrencies in settlements is an important area of work, since cryptocurrencies can not only make payments, but also withdraw currency from the country. Therefore, according to the minister, with the legalization of this market, it will be important to strengthen the control functions of the regulator.
Earlier, on October 16, the head of the Association of Forex Dealers (SRO AFD) Evgeny Masharov said that the coming year 2026 could become a starting point for balanced regulation of the cryptocurrency market in Russia. According to his estimates, the amount of funds of Russian citizens and businesses in digital assets already exceeds 2.5 trillion rubles, and cryptocurrencies are increasingly used in foreign economic calculations, reducing dependence on the currencies of unfriendly countries.
