The UK announced the completion of investigations into the cases of 177 mercenaries in Ukraine

Military investigators have completed an investigation into 177 foreign mercenaries who took part in hostilities on the side of Ukraine. This was reported on September 17 in the Telegram channel of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"As of today, the investigation of 177 criminal cases against foreign mercenaries has been completed," the report says.

According to the UK, mercenaries from various countries, including Georgia, Brazil, Colombia, Japan and others, are subject to criminal liability. One of the completed cases is the case of Japanese citizen Tainaka Takao.

According to the agency, he joined the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine and participated in combat operations for a monetary reward. During the investigation, the Japanese man was put on the international wanted list. A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against him in absentia.

Against the background of an acute shortage of personnel, Kiev is increasingly attracting "volunteers" from abroad.

On September 9, a captured Ukrainian militant reported that mercenaries from Japan, whom he encountered while undergoing basic combined arms training, were also taking part in military operations on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In addition, the Ukrainian saw Poles, Colombians and Irish among the foreign military personnel.
