The court arrested businessman Amirkhanyan in the case of the murder of ex-MP Kiva
A court in the Moscow region has arrested businessman Araik Amirkhanyan as part of an investigation into the murder of former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ilya Kiva. This was announced on September 16 by a source familiar with the investigation.
"A court in the Moscow region has chosen a preventive measure for Amirkhanyan in the form of detention in the Kiva murder case," the source told RIA Novosti.
It is noted that the businessman is already under arrest in another case — about giving a bribe. In early summer, the court sentenced Amirkhanyan to six years of general regime and a fine. It is specified that the businessman twice transferred funds to the bailiff for the removal of the arrest from his company's accounts, bypassing the law. At the same time, the court of appeal recognized the verdict as lawful at the end of August.
Kiva's body was found on December 6, 2023 at the Velich Country club in a park near Moscow. According to the Izvestia source, the killer fired twice, approaching the politician from behind. The first bullet hit the heart area, the second one hit the head.
Later, on December 11, 2023, the Crimean Wind Telegram channel reported, citing sources in the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), that the SBU had been carefully preparing an operation to eliminate Kiva for a long time. Her agents studied all possible details of the routes of the former MP, his daily routine and habits.
