Flight safety, aircraft airworthiness, and the development of unmanned systems in Russia will be the main topics of discussion at the NAISNational Civil Aviation Infrastructure Exhibition, which will be held in Moscow on February 5-6. In 2025, the exposition will be the largest in the history of the event - it will bring together more than 7 thousand specialists and 140 companies - suppliers of equipment and technologies for civil aviation and airports from Russia, Belarus, China and Iran.

What will be discussed at the NAIS-2025 forum

On February 5, the 12th National Civil Aviation Infrastructure Exhibition and Forum - NAIS - will open its doors. More than 140 companies from Russia, Belarus, China and Iran will present their developments at the Moscow venue . Among them are Almaz-Antey, Mikran, Moscow Microwaves, Neoscan, Transport of the Future, Avangard, TsKBA, ZGM, Ural, YUMIRS, UAVProf and others.

The event will bring together 7 thousand representatives of aviation enterprises with industry regulators, scientific institutes, developers and supplier companies.

The forum sessions will identify development vectors and the latest technologies for airports, airlines and other aviation enterprises, and for the first time the topic of unmanned technology development will be widely presented.

Also scheduled are awards ceremonies - the country's industry awards: "Air Gates of Russia" and RUSky Awards for the best airports and air carriers.

- First of all, we expect that the issue of bringing the MS-21 and other Russian airplanes currently under development to operational modes will be considered. These are aircraft that should definitely get on the wing in the near future, because it is related to the security of the country. We also need to finish import substitution of Sukhoi Superjet 100," Dmitry Kuzyakin, general director of CCBR (Zhukovsky) told Izvestia.

The second point, he said, is everything that concerns the ground infrastructure of airports.

- Starting from travolators in airport terminals and ending with air traffic control equipment. In most of these areas, too, things are not so smooth with the transition to domestic products. The third point is the creation of conditions for repair of aviation equipment inside the country. And the last question, which I would like to be answered, is when Russian aircraft engines based on PD-14 will be brought to flight characteristics, - shared a market participant.

What novelties will be presented at NAIS-2025

On the NAIS exhibition site, Navigator will present the radio-technical system for landing, navigation and air surveillance "KORMA" for civil airplanes and helicopters. Concern Radioelectronic Technologies (KRET) will show onboard electronics for civil airliners PPKR-SVS. And the United Engine Corporation (UEC) - models of aircraft engines PD-14, PD-8, TV7-117ST-01/02, as well as the new VK-1600V for medium-sized helicopters. This is only a small part of what is expected at NAIS-2025.

A separate sector of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and UAV countermeasures will be organized within the exhibition for the first time.

The stand of Almaz-Antey Air Defense Concern will show the air traffic control complex Syntez-AR3, as well as samples of radio-technical and meteorological equipment to support flights of civilian drones. This equipment makes it possible to integrate UAVs into the airspace and exclude their departure from safe zones. UAVProf software, which includes algorithms for group control of drone flight, should help in this.

- Although NAIS was originally an exhibition of airport infrastructure, it now has a large section dedicated to drones," Nikita Danilov, CEO and founder of Fly Drone, told Izvestia. - This is a consequence of the development of the national project "Unmanned Aviation Systems" in Russia.

In particular, heavy drones used for logistics purposes, as well as systems and components required for their operation are of interest, he noted.

According to him, countermeasures against drones are becoming more and more relevant, and at this exhibition they will be presented in a significant volume.

The first Russian drone for agro-industrial complex

Participants of the exhibition propose to deal with air traffic violators decisively.

- Various kinds of jammers, radars, detection cameras and the like are presented to protect against drones," Nikolay Ryashin, general director of Rusdronoport, an expert of the Aeronet STI market, told Izvestia.

For example, at NAIS-2025 the hardware and software complex "rearguard" for a fault-tolerant system of UAV detection and countermeasures will be presented.

Neoscan will show the NEON-SP jamming station for clearing the sky of hostile UAVs over industrial and transportation facilities.

- Of interest is the company Transport of the Future, which was the first in Russia to certify a drone assembled mostly from components of its own production," Andrei Patrakov, founder of the RunAvia flight safety service and aviation expert, told Izvestia.

This is a C-80 aircraft for the agro-industry, which allows for spot application of fertilizers and plant protection products. It has a payload of 40 kg and can process up to 18 hectares per hour. The drone also delivers payloads of up to 20 kg over a distance of up to 15 km.

- It is still important for the development of the UAS industry to create a regulatory framework for the operation of such vehicles, - said Andrei Patrakov.

According to him, in order to develop the correct algorithms for controlling ultra-small aircraft in the Samara region, an experimental-legal regime (EPR) has now been introduced. It will solve many issues on the use of civilian drones.

- In the context of UAS, the role of UAV control technologies cannot be overestimated: they are used for reconnaissance, target designation, cargo delivery and direct target engagement," Andrei Bezrukov, Chairman of the Board of the ANO Center for Unmanned Systems and Technologies, told Izvestia. - However, the growing use of UAVs automatically increases the demand for countermeasures.

This is a matter of national security: if earlier the threat of drones was associated with point incidents, now we are talking about mass and high-tech confrontation, and the experience of combat operations has become a catalyst for the development of "dual-use" technologies, the expert believes.

- Civilian drones are being modified for military tasks, while REB systems originally designed for the army are being adapted to protect airports or energy facilities. This is a symbiosis that sets new standards for both the defense sector and the civilian industry," he summarized.

How the domestic aviation industry meets the challenges of the time

Threats from unmanned aerial vehicles and ensuring flight safety of civil aircraft are only part of the challenges faced by Russian civil aviation. Aircraft need technical units and spare parts, airports require modernization, and the industry as a whole is waiting for import-substituted air transport control systems. At the same time, ultra-small aviation is on the threshold of revolution. It is no coincidence that NAIS 2025 has become the largest exhibition in its 12-year history, where the latest domestic technologies and equipment will be demonstrated.

As the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov noted in his welcoming speech, within the framework of the implementation of the comprehensive program for the development of the industry until 2030, aircraft manufacturers face an important task to provide Russian air carriers with domestically produced aircraft.

- Despite significant sanctions pressure, the civil aircraft industry is demonstrating obvious success. Work is actively underway to create the necessary effective infrastructure in the industry - from creating human resources potential to comprehensive modernization of aircraft building enterprises. The technological sovereignty of the domestic aircraft industry is an unconditional priority," he said.

Consolidated efforts of the enterprises of the aircraft building industry, air transport industry and support of the state will help to realize the set tasks in time, and the NAIS site will again become a comfortable territory for fruitful work and strengthening of business relations, the Minister added.
