Mindless use of the capabilities of artificial intelligence (AI) threatens to eventually lose identity. This was announced on December 9 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"If we use this [AI] thoughtlessly, it can lead to the loss of just everything that we hold dear. Our identity and the dispersion of information, big data, their transfer of this information into the hands of those who will use this information at least unscrupulously, and so on," the head of state said at a meeting of the Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights.

The Head of State noted that abandoning the use of big data and AI also threatens to lose, but their uncontrolled use creates serious risks.

He also pointed out the danger in education, where the younger generation, having stopped thinking independently, may lose the ability to solve basic tasks.

"They will just press a button and that's it. And they won't be able to solve elementary problems in mathematics, physics, chemistry, or history on their own," the president said.

Putin also stressed that responsibility for any decision made with the help of AI should always rest with a specific person, and the reference to artificial intelligence cannot serve as an excuse.

"The responsibility for making a decision should lie with specific people. This means that it will require any specialist to check, recalculate, and revise," the president concluded.
