Japan has issued a statement to the IAEA that no abnormalities have been detected at the Fukushima nuclear power plant after the earthquake and tsunami warning. This became known on December 8.

It is also noted that the discharge of water purified by the ALPS system was temporarily suspended today at 23:42 local time (17:42 Moscow time) as a precautionary measure.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that an earthquake of magnitude 7.2 occurred in northern Japan. It was clarified that the tremors were recorded off the eastern coast of Amori Prefecture. The depth of the earthquake is about 50 km.
