Small duplicate traffic lights have already appeared in 94 places in Moscow. This year, the number of addresses where they are installed has increased by 9%, and by the end of the year, the number of such traffic lights will also grow. This was announced on November 1 by the Metropolitan Department of Transport in its Telegram channel.

In 2025, such traffic lights were installed on Kirovogradskaya Street, the intersection of Miklukho-Maklay and Akademika Volgina streets, Nosovikhinsky Highway and Jubilee Avenue, Pyatnitsky Highway and Dubravnaya Street, as well as the intersection of Pyatnitsky Highway, Mitinskaya Street and Muravskaya Street, Sayanskaya Street and Khoroshevsky Highway. By the end of the year, a new small traffic light will be operational at 17 1st Mitinsky Lane.

Small duplicate traffic lights are needed if the "main" traffic light is too close to the stop line and the driver may not see its signal. Thanks to the mini-traffic lights, it becomes easy to understand the order of travel, even if the view is partially limited, the Department of Transport noted. They are also useful when it is necessary to regulate the movement of cyclists at an intersection with a highway or pedestrian crossings.

Earlier, on October 30, it was reported that in Moscow, for the first time, the video analytics system of the Traffic Management Center (DPC) appeared at traffic lights, with its introduction trams began to pass intersections 20% faster.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
