According to the railway workers, the accident occurred at 17:39 Moscow time. There were no casualties, the infrastructure was not damaged, and there was no environmental damage. Train traffic on this section has not been interrupted, but there may be minor delays for suburban trains.

"Recovery trains have been dispatched from Arzamas and Kanash stations to eliminate the consequences of the incident, and an operational headquarters has been set up," the Gorky Railway said.
