A resident of the Matveevo-Kurgan district of the Rostov region was convicted for a period of 14 years for attempting to sabotage railway tracks while passing a train with military equipment. This was announced on October 17 by the regional department of the FSB of the Russian Federation.
"Based on the materials of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in the Rostov region, a guilty verdict was handed down to a resident of the Matveevo-Kurgan district involved in an attempt to commit sabotage at a railway infrastructure facility on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services," the statement said.
According to the investigation, citizen Roman Devitsyn planned to set fire to the alarm, centralization, and blocking relay cabinets in order to converge the train. It is noted that the man had information about the passage of the railway train of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, which transported military equipment and fuel and lubricants.
Devitsyn failed to commit a crime, he was detained by officers of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Rostov region. A criminal case has been opened against the man under Part 3 of Article 30 ("Attempted crime"), part 1 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of Russia "Sabotage", the department said.
Later, the Rostov Regional Court found Devitsyn guilty of the alleged crimes. He will serve his sentence in a high—security penal colony, of which the first 3 years will be in prison. It is noted that the verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
On October 1, FSB officers detained five Russian citizens who were preparing mass killings in Donetsk, Mariupol, Krasnoyarsk and Orel. It was noted that the detainees were planning to commit a terrorist attack on a transport infrastructure facility. According to the ministry, criminal cases have been opened against nine detainees under several articles, including preparation for terrorist acts, participation in a terrorist organization, illegal possession of explosives and public calls for extremist activities.
