They plan to commission a new water treatment plant in Tomari on Sakhalin in a year.

A new water treatment plant is planned to be commissioned in November 2026, including in the Sakhalin Region. This is reported by the press service of the regional government.

"The project provides for the construction of a second-lift water pumping station with a sewage treatment plant with a capacity of 1,678 cubic meters per day. As a result, the pumping station's capacity and the volume of clean water reservoirs will increase," the report says.

The cost of the project is about 560 million rubles. The funds are allocated as part of a targeted investment program.

According to SakhalinMedia news agency, the old water pumping station was built in Tomari back in the 20th century. It is assumed that the modernization will improve water quality and provide reliable water supply for 4 thousand people, as well as reduce the number of accidents.

The construction is carried out according to the schedule. The facility is scheduled to be commissioned in November 2026.
