Russia wishes the new leader of Peru, Jose Geri, success in solving the urgent tasks facing the republic. The corresponding message was published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry on October 14.
"Russia regards the change of power in Peru as an internal matter of this country," the publication says.
The ministry noted that in accordance with the Constitution of Peru, Congressional President Jose Heri has taken over the presidency, and he will lead the country until the presidential elections on April 12, 2026.
The Russian Foreign Ministry added that Moscow stands for the free nature of bilateral relations from external influence, based on equality, sovereignty and mutual consideration of national interests.
Earlier, on October 10, the Peruvian parliament unanimously voted to impeach President Dina Boluarte amid rising crime. It was noted that 124 people voted for the impeachment of the current leader.
