Deputy Butskaya responded to criticism of her initiative on breastfeeding
Tatyana Butskaya, deputy of the State Duma of the VIII convocation, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Family, Women and Children, on Friday, October 10, commented on the criticism that fell on her after putting forward an initiative on the need to ensure that women can breastfeed their children without restrictions in public places.
According to her, all the stories related to feeding in public places are often resonant, and they occur in various places: in museums, in fitness clubs, in restaurants.
Butskaya stressed that the position of the management of institutions to support inappropriate criticism of nursing mothers is "absolutely terrible."
"Yes, these cases are isolated. These are isolated cases that form approaches," she said in an episode of the show "Soryan, this is a podcast." The recording was posted on the page of the meta-project "Cart Online" in VK Video.
The MP added that her goal is to create rules that could protect nursing mothers from "inappropriate reactions from others."
"Hear me out. Not everyone crosses the road on a zebra crossing and runs a green light. Nevertheless, there are such rules. So we need rules for those who for some reason react inadequately to breastfeeding children," Butskaya concluded.
Oksana Murzina, pediatrician, neonatologist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), dispelled popular myths about breastfeeding faced by young mothers on September 12 in an interview with Izvestia. According to her, painful breast-feeding is considered a common misconception. Murzina explained that minor unpleasant sensations may occur in the early days, especially in first-time mothers, but constant pain is a signal of a possible problem.
