On Monday, September 29, another lesson from the series "Conversations about important things" will take place in Russian schools and colleges. It will focus on Russia's digital sovereignty, the importance of national digital solutions, and ensuring online security. Izvestia tells us how the lesson will go in different classes.

"Talking about important things" on September 29 — the topic of the lesson

The lesson "Digital Sovereignty of the country" will be devoted to the development of digital technologies in Russia. Students will get acquainted with domestic products and services that help maintain the independence of the state in the digital space, and discuss the importance of maintaining online security. The lesson will also discuss how the state can effectively use digital technologies to strengthen its sovereignty, stimulate economic growth and social stability.

The lesson will be held in the format of an educational conversation using interactive materials, presentations and videos. The recommended duration of the lesson is 30 minutes. The methodological materials are published on the project's website.

Mikhail Oseevsky, President of Rostelecom, Anna Kulashova, Vice President of Kaspersky Lab for Business Development in Russia and the CIS, and Ekaterina Mizulina, head of the Safe Internet League, will act as federal speakers.

Students in grades 1-4 will talk about how modern technologies affect their daily lives and what digital devices surround them. The main stage of the lesson will be devoted to discussing the importance of digital sovereignty for the state. Children will get acquainted with domestic services such as Russian search engines, social networks and video platforms. The teacher will conduct an interactive task "Assemble the digital world", through which students will learn about the main components of digital independence. At the end of the lesson, the students will discuss the basic rules of safe behavior on the Internet.

For students in grades 5-7, the lesson will begin with a discussion of the concept of sovereignty. Students will recall previous lessons on food and energy sovereignty, and now, using digital technologies as an example, they will learn how Russia can develop its digital infrastructure and ensure the safety of its citizens. Students will also learn about domestic digital products (Yandex, RuStore, MAX, VKontakte, etc.) and their role in ensuring the country's digital independence. The final stage of the lesson will be a discussion of practical aspects of digital security.

Students in grades 8-9 will be invited to discuss why it is important for Russia to develop its own digital solutions and how this helps in the field of security. Students will learn about how digital sovereignty affects the security of the country and every citizen. They will also be told about digital services that allow the state to control its digital territory and protect it from threats. Students will also get acquainted with the Russian messenger MAX and its advantages for schoolchildren, including the integration of the educational space "Spherum".

In grades 10-11, classes will begin with a discussion of digital sovereignty in the context of national security. Students will learn how independence in the digital environment affects data protection and the prevention of cyber attacks, and what role domestic services play in it. The students will also talk about the advantages of the Russian messenger MAX. At the end of the lesson, students will get acquainted with the sought-after professions in the field of IT technologies. The teacher will also invite students to reflect on how the digital professions market will develop in the coming decades.

"Conversations about important things" on September 29 — about the project

"Conversations about important things" is a series of extracurricular activities dedicated to the history, culture, geography of Russia, as well as topical topics related to the lives of schoolchildren. The project was launched by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in 2022. Classes are held every Monday at schools and colleges across the country. They help students develop critical thinking and foster patriotic values.

Previous lesson "Peaceful atom. Nuclear Industry Worker's Day" was dedicated to the development of the nuclear industry in Russia. The students were told about the significant achievements of Russian scientists in the field of nuclear energy, as well as about the role of the atom in everyday life.
