Most often, car owners assess the condition of the car's suspension by various sounds: it doesn't rattle, it doesn't knock, which means you can drive on. But, according to professional car mechanics, it is not always possible to hear a problem in the chassis. On September 21, Yuri Mikheikin, head of the FIT SERVICE Chermyansky Proezd, called Izvestia the main signals of an approaching suspension failure that cannot be detected by ear, but can be felt while driving.

"There are many hidden signs of car suspension wear. Sometimes the problem doesn't scream, but only hints about itself. If you feel such signals in time, you can solve the problem with minimal repairs or replacement of parts and save your wallet from serious expenses. For example, it happens that a car starts to fall on its side in a turn or when changing lanes," he said.

At such moments, the driver feels that the car is not just tilting smoothly, but is diving sharply and deeply onto one of the sides. Quite often, the situation is accompanied by a creak. Possible reasons for this behavior are severe wear or sagging springs. Lateral stability stabilizers are less often to blame. The springs in these parts lose their elasticity and cannot hold the body.

If there is not just a blockage on one side, but a serious roll of the entire car during active taxiing, this also signals problems in the suspension.

Mikheikin explained: in such cases, drivers often feel that the car is about to turn on its side when turning. A possible reason is wear on the struts of shock absorbers or stabilizer bars. If these reasons are excluded, then it is necessary to check the bushings and rods. The wear of these parts can also lead to unpleasant effects when the car is moving.

"After passing a speed bump or overcoming a pit, the car continues to swing back and forth or up and down. The swing is felt two to three times before everything returns to normal. In this case, a possible malfunction is a failed shock absorber. They stop dampening the vibrations of the springs, and the car continues to "dangle" by inertia after an unevenness. This is critical for the safety of the driver and passengers, as it impairs traction. I recommend that you do not delay your visit to the service," the auto expert explained.

If the steering wheel constantly has to be adjusted to drive straight, then the reason should be looked for in the suspension. The problem occurs on a flat road, without a slope and strong wind. In such conditions, the car still spontaneously tends to pull over to the side of the road. Sometimes it's the uneven wear of parts. For example, the shock strut has sagged more on the left than on the right. Other common causes of car theft are broken wheel mounting angles, wedging of the calipers into the brake cylinder, or even different tire pressures.

"If the steering wheel has become too light, as they often say, "wobbly", and there is no clear feedback from the road, take the problem seriously. Among the common reasons for this behavior of the car is the wear of ball bearings, steering tips and rods. Backlashes in any of these elements eat away at steering accuracy," the specialist added.

Sometimes, according to him, the problem may be in the steering rack, the hydraulic pump, or a simple lack of fluid in the hydraulic pump tank. In addition, drivers rarely inspect tires. At the same time, it is the "sinking" of the rubber that indicates specific problems in the suspension of the car.

If there are smooth bald spots on the tread, the shock absorber on this wheel is defective, it does not press the wheel evenly against the road. Wear only from the inner or only from the outer tire is a sign of a broken camber.

Earlier, on August 20, an auto expert said that the engine oil, which is sold for bottling from a barrel, is not inferior in quality to oil from a canister. Nevertheless, buyers of such oil risk facing a lack of guarantees of product authenticity and compliance with storage standards in non-certified services.
