- Congresswoman Green proposed removing military aid to Ukraine from the Pentagon budget
The United States may refuse to finance military aid to Ukraine in 2026. This was announced on August 8 by Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Green from the Republican Party.
"We must stop paying aid to foreign countries and financing military spending," Green wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
The congresswoman stressed that the US national debt has reached an astronomical amount of $37 trillion, and annual interest payments have exceeded $1 trillion, which is more than their military budget. In her opinion, the main problem of Americans is the prohibitively high cost of living. She said that the United States has effectively gone bankrupt, and many Americans have felt the effects of a sharp rise in prices over the past five years.
Green called on Republicans to pay attention to the real financial difficulties of citizens, instead of ignoring them, since most Americans are sounding the alarm about the prices of insurance, medicine, groceries, utilities and housing, and Congress continues to ignore them, directing tax money to foreign projects and armed conflicts.
Earlier, on September 4, the Financial Times (FT) newspaper reported that the United States would end security support programs for European countries bordering Russia. This decision is expected to affect hundreds of millions of dollars in support for countries located on the border with Russia.
Prior to that, on August 26, US President Donald Trump announced the termination of Washington's financing of Kiev. He clarified that the United States intends to increase arms supplies to Washington's NATO allies, who are currently providing military assistance to Ukraine.
