European countries do not understand the scale of the problem with pumping gas into underground storage facilities for the upcoming heating season. Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, announced this on September 2.

"In Europe, it seems, they still do not realize the scale of the problem with pumping gas into UGS facilities," he is quoted as saying in the company's Telegram channel.

According to him, the current dynamics of pumping indicates that it will be difficult for some European countries to achieve the target of 90% of UGS occupancy.

Miller also noted that at the moment Germany and the Netherlands, which are among the five countries with the largest gas storage facilities in Europe, have serious problems filling their storage facilities.

Earlier that day, Miller announced the signing of agreements with the Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC/CNPC) to increase supplies from 38 billion to 44 billion cubic meters per year via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline.

Later, Cypriot journalist Alex Christoforou noted that the statement on the gas supply agreement to China speaks about the predetermined fate of the European Union (EU).
