Over the past day, 332 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 23 people were killed and 406 injured. 15 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on August 27 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

15 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and another 18 road users needed medical attention. Eight bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers. As a result of 79 road accidents, 30 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 49 outside their area of operation, eight pedestrians were killed, and 74 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 17 child pedestrians, seven of whom were injured while crossing the roadway in designated areas.

58 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 65 young road users were injured, including 29 passengers, six cyclists and eight motor transport drivers. Three children were killed: a motorcyclist, a cyclist and a pedestrian.

So, in Ufa, a 12-year-old schoolboy, driving a cross-country sports motorcycle, at an unregulated intersection at the exit to the main road did not provide an advantage in traffic and collided with a passenger car driven by a 30-year-old female driver. As a result of the accident, a young motorcyclist died.

In the city of Krasnoturinsk, Sverdlovsk region, a 20-year-old passenger car driver, driving in the evening along a one-way road in the absence of artificial street lighting, collided with two boys cyclists born in 2013 and 2011. They were driving towards them on the left side of the roadway, the motorist did not see them. The youngest of the students died in the accident. The children did not have protective equipment, as well as retroreflective elements on their clothes.

In one of the rural settlements of the Republic of Tyva, a 38-year-old female passenger car driver ran over a three-year-old pedestrian girl, who escaped from the arms of her accompanying relative and suddenly ran out into the roadway in front of the car. When analyzing the incident, it turned out that the woman driving the vehicle did not have a driver's license.

The State Traffic Inspectorate called on citizens who have not been trained in driving schools and have not received a driver's license in accordance with the established procedure, or who have been deprived of their license, to refrain from trying to get behind the wheel and drive onto public roads. By reckless actions, they put not only personal, but also other people's lives and health in real danger.

Parents were reminded of the need to curb attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles, prohibiting the management of cars and motor vehicles without the appropriate rights and skills. The lack of control over children's behavior and leisure during the summer school holidays, especially in the evening, often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users.

The parents' attention was drawn to the administrative responsibility in the amount of 30 thousand rubles for providing the opportunity to drive motor vehicles for children who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category. Parents should also remember that the operation of motorcycles of the "sports equipment" category on public roads — outside specialized trails for classes and competitions in motorsport — is strictly prohibited, the department noted.

"Be sure to use retroreflective elements on the clothes of young pedestrians and cyclists to improve their visibility to vehicle drivers in the evening. Conduct an explanatory conversation with children about the rules of safe travel on personal mobility equipment, bicycles and scooters, paying special attention to the inadmissibility of minors under the age of 14 traveling on public roads," said Police Colonel Anton Belan, Deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

On August 25, the Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate announced a citywide preventive event on the eve of the new school year. It will be held from August 25 to September 5. On September 1, the entrances to all schools will be under special control of traffic inspectors, and traffic police posts will be close to them. In each district of the capital, traffic police will hold various events, promotions and briefings with schoolchildren and their parents.
