Hungary reported Trump's outrage over Ukraine's strikes on the Druzhba oil pipeline
US President Donald Trump has told Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban that he is "very angry" over Ukraine's strikes on the Druzhba oil pipeline, through which Hungary receives oil from Russia. This is stated in a letter published on August 22 by Balazs Orban, the political adviser to the Hungarian Prime Minister.
"I hate to hear that. I'm very angry. Tell this to Slovakia. You are my great friend," the US president wrote by hand, the letter is posted on Orban's Facebook page (owned by Meta, a company recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and whose activities are prohibited in the territory of the Russian Federation).
The letter also contains a statement by Viktor Orban. He stressed that the attack on Druzhba, which supplies Hungary and Slovakia with oil, is an "unfriendly" step on the part of Ukraine, as Budapest helps Kiev with the supply of electricity and fuel.
Earlier in the day, Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced the third Ukrainian attack on the Druzhba oil pipeline on the Russian-Belarusian border. As a result of the attack, oil supplies to Hungary were stopped. According to Szijjarto, they will resume in five days.
In addition, Hungary and Slovakia called on the European Commission to force Ukraine to stop attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline. The countries noted that without this pipeline, it is impossible to safely supply Hungary and Slovakia with oil due to physical and geographical conditions.
