Astronomers have discovered the moment when planets began to form around a star located about 1.3 thousand light-years from Earth. This discovery was made using powerful instruments — the James Webb Space Telescope and the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) radio telescope in Chile. The discovery gave scientists a unique insight into exactly how the first stages of planet formation occur in young epochs.

According to the study, using these telescopes, the team observed the formation of hot minerals that are just beginning to solidify. These minerals are the first beginnings of the materials from which planets will later form.

Research using telescopes has helped to discover evidence that these hot minerals are beginning to condense in the disk around the young star HOPS-315, which can be called the prototype of the solar system. In a process that has not been previously seen outside of our system.

"For us, this is a completely new way of looking at how planetesimals begin to condense and how the processes that we observe in our own solar system occur," the material says.
