Erdogan called the situation in the Gaza Strip a "brutal genocide"
The situation in the Gaza Strip, which developed during the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, has become "the most brutal genocide of the last century." This was announced on August 1 by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"What we are witnessing in Gaza before the eyes of the so-called civilized world is much more terrible than what could only be seen in concentration camps. The most brutal genocide of the last century is taking place in Gaza. Not only children and babies are being destroyed, everything related to humanity is being wiped off the face of the earth by a handful of criminals," Erdogan said, speaking to participants of a summer school in Istanbul, as quoted by the Hurriyet newspaper.
The Turkish president also called food distribution centers in Gaza "places of slaughter." He added that local residents are fainting from exhaustion, and mothers are "risking their lives to get a bag of flour or a sip of water."
In addition, Erdogan pointed out that the Turkish government adamantly protects the rights of Gazans.
"The government that opposes the terrorist State of Israel is our government. We did not leave our brothers in Gaza for a single minute. By completely stopping trade with Israel, we supported the Palestinian people," concluded the Turkish president.
On July 27, journalist Muhammad Mattar told Izvestia about queues near a charity kitchen in the Gaza Strip. According to him, the food crisis in the region has worsened due to the closure of checkpoints, the shelling of the charity kitchen and its employees by the occupation forces.
On the same day, July 27, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) introduced a daily humanitarian pause in the fighting in Gaza. It was clarified that such measures have been introduced in areas where the IDF conducts operations. They also included Al-Mawasi, Deir al-Balah and Gaz. The day before, on July 26, the Israeli army announced the resumption of air drops of humanitarian aid to residents of the Gaza Strip in order to refute Hamas rumors of famine among residents.
