- WP has learned about plans to introduce AI to the places of dismissed civil servants in the United States
The administration of US President Donald Trump is working on the introduction of artificial intelligence in the places of dismissed civil servants. This was reported by The Washington Post on July 15.
The article clarifies that automation of processes due to artificial intelligence (AI) may soon play a central role in tax audits, airport security checks and other areas. It is believed that government AI programs are designed to reduce waiting times and reduce costs for American taxpayers.
According to Elizabeth Laird, director of the Center for Democracy and Technology, a non-profit organization, if AI manages decision-making at the federal level, instead of helping human specialists, mistakes cannot be avoided: failures can unfairly deprive people of benefits or harm public safety.
"The drive to automate work highlights a broader strategy: delegating functions normally performed by human experts to powerful software. The ultimate goal is to have a single IT department, HR department, etc. for the treasury and force artificial intelligence to do everything," the ex-official said.
Earlier, on July 11, the media learned about the reduction of more than 1.3 thousand employees of the State Department as part of the Trump plan. All dismissed employees of the State Department will be placed on administrative leave for 120 days, after which they will officially lose their jobs.
