Director Kapkov noted the potential of the deceased animator Sokolov
Director and animator Andrei Sokolov had great potential and was a professional in his field. His colleague, animation historian and director Sergey Kapkov, told Izvestia about this on July 15.
"He was proficient in animation, he drew well, he absolutely felt the tempo and rhythm of the film, the pulse of the film. <...> He was technically very well-versed, and he had a huge potential that the producers couldn't handle. He could probably make a movie every year. But due to the fact that his character was not easy, he was a harsh man, the producers were afraid of him," he said.
Kapkov emphasized that author's animation is rarely widely distributed, but the audience knew and loved Sokolov's films.
Sokolov's death at the age of 52 became known the day before. The animator is best known for such paintings as "Mountains of Gems", "Latex", "Hash", "Comrade from the Stars" and "Hard Baguette".
