More than 20 people were injured in a massive bus accident near Bonn in western Germany. This was reported by the Courier newspaper.

"On the German A59 motorway near Bonn, a bus traveling to the airport collided with five cars, injuring more than 20 people," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, the bus was heading with passengers to the airport. In addition, according to the Courier, the 63-year-old passenger of the car that collided with the bus was trapped inside. The man was taken to a medical facility by helicopter. Six more people who were in the vehicles suffered moderate injuries.

Law enforcement officers blocked a section of the road for rescue operations and launched an investigation into the incident.

Earlier in the day in Sri Lanka, a bus left the road and fell into the abyss. It was reported that the death toll in the accident reached 21.
