The American company SpaceX in the next two years plans to send to Mars about five of its unmanned spacecraft. This was announced on September 23 by its founder, entrepreneur Ilon Musk.

"If they all land safely, crewed missions will be possible in four years. If we encounter difficulties, manned missions will have to be postponed for another two years," the businessman wrote on his X (former Twitter) page.

He also added that travel from Earth to Mars is only possible once every two years when the planets are aligned. That said, regardless of whether the landing is successful, SpaceX will increase the number of spacecraft going to the Red Planet every time there is a transit opportunity.

"We want to give everyone who wants to be a space traveler the opportunity to go to Mars! That means you, your family or friends - anyone who dreams of great adventures - can do it," Musk noted.

Earlier on September 7, Musk said that the first unmanned flights of the Starship spacecraft to Mars are planned in two years. According to the billionaire, if these landings are successful, the first manned flights will start in four years. At the same time, he said that if successful, the frequency of flights to Mars will begin to grow exponentially, as he plans to build a "self-sustaining" city on the planet in the next 20 years.

After, on Sept. 11, the entrepreneur noted that the U.S. will never reach Mars if incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris wins the upcoming presidential election rather than the Republican Party's nominee, former President Donald Trump. The entrepreneur also said that laws and regulations in the US will get worse every year unless there is a major government reform.

Prior to that, on July 20, Musk said that it is time for the US to reach greater heights by sending astronauts to Mars. He noted that anyone who wants to become a space traveler and help explore the planet "should be able to do it."
