Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen's statement on the rejection of red lines in the conflict in Ukraine is not adequate and poses a threat to the kingdom itself. Andrei Klimov, deputy chairman of the Federation Council's committee on international affairs, said this in a conversation with Izvestiya on September 23.

Earlier in the day, the Danish prime minister said that Western countries should abandon red lines with regard to Russia and lift any restrictions on Ukraine's use of the weapons it received. According to her, the West is still thinking in a peaceful way and is itself creating bureaucratic restrictions with the help of Kiev, which should be gotten rid of.

"There are still people in Denmark who still have something left in their brains, but apparently this does not apply to Frederiksen. All those who speak on the subject of red lines in the West are a threat to their nations. Here they fall into marasmus, and the rational functions of the brain are turned off," Klimov commented.

In addition, the politician added that Western politicians should think about what the response to aggression against Russia could be, so those people who "have not yet fallen into marasmus" should talk about red lines.

On Friday, September 20, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also reminded that Moscow has dangerous weapons at its disposal for Kiev's masters abroad. According to him, the Russian side is talking about red lines with the expectation that its assessments "will be heard by intelligent, decision-makers."

Prior to that, on September 16, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the North Atlantic Alliance would not become part of the conflict if NATO countries allowed Ukraine to strike Russian territory with their weapons. Reacting to this statement, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova characterized the outgoing NATO secretary-general's statement with the expression "dementia and bravery".

On September 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin said about the consequences of possibly allowing Kiev to launch strikes against Russia. The head of state noted that this would speak about the direct involvement of Western countries in the Ukrainian conflict and would fundamentally change its essence. At the same time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the USA had apparently already made a decision authorizing Ukraine to launch strikes with Western weapons on Russian territory.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Ukraine amid Russia's special operation to defend Donbass, which began on February 24, 2022. The decision to conduct it was made by the Russian president because of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to the increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
