Tel Aviv is not connected with the pager bombings in Lebanon. This was stated by Israeli President Yitzhak Herzog in an interview with Sky News on September 22.

According to him, Tel Aviv is not involved in this crime, because it does not want to enter into war with Lebanon. Herzog clarified that the Shiite Hezbollah movement has many ill-wishers who are capable of such a thing.

"Lebanon has become hostage to the terrorist organization and part-time political party Hezbollah," the head of state said.

As for Israel's missile strike on Iran, the president said that Tel Aviv would defend its people and eliminate any threats to their existence,Gazeta.Ruadded.

On September 17, numerous people were seriously injured in pager explosions in Beirut and southern Lebanon. The next day, various wireless devices exploded in cars and on motorcycles. These were portable radios, which were different from pagers. Lebanese authorities and Hezbollah representatives blamed Israel for the explosions. The number of wounded exceeded 4 thousand, 400 people are in serious condition, at least 37 died.

On September 20, the media reported that the operation to "cut off the supply chain" and detonate pagers in Lebanon had been planned by Israel for at least 15 years. The production of the detonated pagers involved front companies with numerous Israeli intelligence officers.

On September 21, the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) told Izvestia about the risk of escalation on the Lebanese-Israeli border into a regional conflict. The UN mission is working intensively to de-escalate tensions that could potentially trigger a wider conflict.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas launched a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip into Israel, as well as invaded border areas in the south of the country and took hostages. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
